  What was your most humiliating point of being a jw?

  mine was when my mom signed me up to sit at a table at our local university.

  we had to sit there and talk to students as they passed by our table.

  a few people came up to start a conversation and i didn't even know what they were talking about.

  #(1)....After being invited in a home while out in service..my small son ( who I had just picked up from school )..had disappeared while I was sitting on the couch pointing out a scripture in the bible to the lady. I called out Son..where are you? (He was only 5) I heard a loud voice from the hallway.."I'm in here pooping Mom! OMG.................The lady just sat there with a disgusted look on her face. Of course I never went back there and I don't think she will let any more JW's in her house..And I couldn't get out of there fast enough!..
  

  #2)....Then there was the time I was giving a talk ..Ministry school..and my son always had to use the girls bathroom with me..I wouldn't let him go alone and his Dad wasn't going to meetings then.Apparently he again had to go to the bathroomSo the sister watching him just let him go..he automatically went to the girls bathroom.From the front of the hall while giving my talk I heard a "mom".. then a little louder.."Mom"..and pretty soon a yell.."MOM"..and then a panicky "MOM"..
  He was locked in the bathroom and couldn't get out!..The whole hall was just glaring at me. Not laughing or trying to help. Finally the sister watching him went back to get help.
  I continued to give my talk..(As brainwashed as I was) And they got him out.He was sniggling and went back to his chair..
  I was given a very good review for handling myself and the situation so well under stress Whoopee...

  #3) Then there was the time he fell asleep laying across two metal chairs.I guess he was having a wet dream. Before I knew it water (Pee) was pouring from his chair..I ran and got towels from the bathroom and cleanned it up the best I could. But there was that look again...
  I wonder if they called me the "Potty Queen" after I left?

  I didn't blame my poor son..I would pioneer a lot and since he only had half a day's school he would go with me out in service after that.
  Then 3 meeting nights a week..he was tired!
  One time he had Mono for 2 or 3 weeks before I noticed he had lost about 20 pounds!

  I don't think I pioneered after that!

  ps..I enjoyed all the stories!..Thanks.. I don't think I read the question right.. I just thought of embarrasing moments when I was a JW..

  Wife arranging for me to study with a brother! I need a plan!

  here's the situation.

  my wife couldn't answer some deep issues i've raised regarding a few of the wts's teachings and dishonest representation of historical sources.

  naturally, she attributes her lack of answers to her own lack of research and knowledge.

  It still amazes me that people become JW's ..then they need someone else to explain why they believe what they do!

  Why become a JW unless you yourself know all the teachings.?

  That's like buying a new house without looking at it.... Or picking a stranger out on the street..never knowing them..and commiting yourself to be married to them ..forever!

  Before joining a religion..you should really check all things about it out! If you don't...you are joining a group of "People".... not a religion.

  Think twice..Are you wanting to be a JW?..You should be allowed to ask any questions you want. If not..run don't walk to the door!

  I didn't ask ENOUGH questions before I leaped! Of course..they had the motto" Ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies!"

  I guess I joined a group of people!...

  But got smart..looked up the Real Truth about JW's on the internet..compared their books to the bible and what they actually teached....got shocked and left!

  I always seem to get in on the bottom of these stupid threads!

  Anyway..I fell no one really knows for sure because they weren't there when it all got started.

  No one living today has met "God" or "Jesus"..

  When I read a book or newspaper article..I take it as it is. Something written by man.And they can write whatever they want. How do we know it is the truth?

  So in answer to your questions..In my opinion..I don't know!

  Since when is a "Short" shotgun legal....Isn't that a "Sawed off" shotgun?

  Hubby had all kinds of handguns.Great big uns and regular size ones..we were always going and getting permits. We had to go to the police station and apply for a permit..then they would send us a letter to take to the courthouse.Then we would get the actual permit.

  I think he had about 10 of them when he got sick. He didn't have long to live and had them all in his name so he had to unload them quick for half price..

  I can't tell you how much of a loss we had to take.

  Gun dealers really rip you off!..He bought most of them there and they bought them back for maybe a third of what he paid for them.

  PS..Hubby was a JW..I guess they are allowed to have hobbies.. No matter what they are.

  Do you miss feeling that "Jehovah" was listening to prayers?

  this is hard to explain, but i will try.

  the other day, my neice was put in the hospital for test , after having two seizures, she is 20 and has never had any medical problems at all.

  i now know, that by doing that it seemed to take the burden of helplessness off of my shoulders.

  I never realized it before but after reading some of these posts ...I had a "Revelation"..

  We were so brainwashed that God's name is "Jehovah" and if we didn't direct our prayers toward him "Through Jesus" he wouldn't hear us..

  I realized I have felt guilty in the past for NOT using his name. I really wondered about that but realized it is because we were so programed.

  I didn't become a JW until I was 21 and this post got me to thinking how hard it must be for those that are raised in the religion. It has to be like a way of life for them.To leave and reject all that was taught to them..many by their parents..I wonder if I could have done it. The feelings that the religion is the only way must be so deeply ingrained inside them..they would have to be on a constant guilt trip!!!

  I try to remember back before I was a JW..and I prayed just fine to plain old "God". It felt natural then. So it should now..right?

  Anyway..I never pray for certain things to happen...just the strength to endure them and the intelligence to work through the problem...I guess that's an old JW teaching too.

  I do also give thanks when things go well!

  What's funny about all this is..I don't really know if I believe in a God or not..

  Snoozy...Lady of little faith..but I still feel better when I pray...

  i was talking to my grown ex jw daughter the other day and we were discussing the new cathedral downtown.

  the old one is still there but small.

  i was telling her that the hebrew letters for "jehovah's name" is inscribed on the top of the cathedral.

  I was talking to my grown ex JW daughter the other day and we were discussing the new Cathedral downtown. The old one is still there but small.

  I was telling her that the hebrew letters for "Jehovah's name" is inscribed on the top of the cathedral. The YHWH in hebrew letters..
  She barked back saying" Are you trying to say the JW's are right?

  I was shocked! I never knew she had issues about that subject after all these years. I wonder if she still feels they might be?
  I explained to her that the JW's had added their own vowels to their advantage to pronounce God's name and promote their religion.

  But when I first became a JW and saw that on the church..I was convinced they (JWs) knew god's name and the JW's were the only "Right" religion.After all..as far as I knew the JW's were the only ones that used God's name.Right?Or so they taught us.The Catholics didn't use it..but they knew it according to that inscription.
  I don't know what point I am trying to make of this..just how easily I was led astray..Of course today I realize how young and impressionable I was. But I was really surprised at my daughter's reaction. It took me by surprise. She it totally Catholic now.

  City Confidential - Profiled Jehovahs Witness murdered in Boise, Idaho

  i was wondering if any one else saw the city confidential eposide on saturday may 7th, that profiled a dub from boise, idaho that was killed by a russian dancer - her husband.. i didn't see the show from the beginning, but apparently the russian dancer was convicted of murdering the dub, however he still claims his innocence - his theroy is that the jehovah witnesses killed his wife because she married him.

  a voilation of their laws.

  he appeared to have some supporters who also believed in his innocence.. .

  I agree with the Mother's day comment!
  And also..I read the link provided and couldn't find any relating to the JW's.(The discussion link) Most comments that I read were from people in the town that were mad at the way it was portrayed.
  Mostly defending their town and arguing whether a poster was a five year old..How dense can they be?
